I feel your pain, our professor wants us to think outside the box.
But follow the rules at the same time.
So we have to think outside of the box, but still be inside the box.:/

I know what the professor means though by following the rules, but thinking outside the box. The rules hes referring to are ones you dont want to break, even if youre trying to make something unique or different. Those are the rules that set us apart from the myriad of "designers" out there who dont know any better or who use word and publisher for all their stuff.

But really those rules are pretty flexible. Designing on command SUCKS, but if you design as a career, you have to do that every day.

Anyway, I feel your pain dude. Wait till you do it as a career... it gets worse.

Heh. Yeah I wasn't really serious when I did this. I'm just bitter at school in general. I'm slowly starting to accept the fact that most of the time I won't be able to go off and do whatever I want when I'm designing.

Yeah I guess that's kind of a fail on my part. But I just got the typeface and I really wanted to use it, haha.

Yeah it gets confusing knowing which rules we're allowed to break and how to be creative without breaking the ones we aren't allowed to break.
